Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Tim Russ, Actor, Director & Musician, Co-Star, “Star Trek: Voyager”

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s guest, Tim Russ, is a highly popular, multi-award-winning actor, director and musician who’s been immortalized for his portrayal of the Vulcan security chief, “Lieutenant Tuvok”, in the blockbuster TV series, “Star Trek: Voyager”.

In fact, he has the distinction of appearing in FOUR “Star Trek” TV series as well as in the feature film, “Star Trek Generations”. Besides playing “Lieutenant Tuvok” in “Star Trek: Voyager”, he played “Devor” in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, he played “T’kar” in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, he played a changeling impersonating “Lieutenant Tuvok” in an episode of “Star Trek: Picard”. And in the movie, “Star Trek Generations”, he played a lieutenant on USS Enterprise B.

But far beyond his work on that iconic franchise, our guest has many talents that encompass a wide spectrum of the performing arts including writing, producing, directing, songwriting, recording albums like "Only a Dream in Rio", "Tim Russ", "Kushangaza" and "Brave New World", and performing with his band, Tim Russ Crew.

On the big screen, you’ve seen him in many movies including “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Rampart”, “Greyscale”, “The Midnight Sky”, “Nightshade”, “The Star City Murders”, “5th Passenger” and many more. And on TV, besides the Star Trek shows I mentioned, he’s appeared in dozens of classic series including “Hill Street Blues”, “Thirtysomething”, “The Highwaymen”, “Murphy Brown”, “ER”, “CSI: Miami”, “iCarly”, “Criminal Minds”, “American Horror Story”, “NCIS”, and yes, he played the sarcastic doorman “Frank” in “Samantha Who?”.

He’s also appeared in many great TV movies and miniseries including “Roots: The Gift”, “Alien Nation”, “The Heroes of Desert Storm”, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, “Asteroid vs Earth”, “Karma” and many more. And as a director, he brought us feature films like “Star Trek: Of Gods and Men”, “Junkie” and “ A Night at the Silent Movie Theater.” And he’s directed episodes of TV shows including “The FBI Files”, “12-Sided Die” and the award-winning web series, "Bloomers."

Our guest has won an Indie Series Award, a Telly Award, an Indie Short Fest Award, an Indie X Film Festival Award, 2 Vegas Movie Awards, and an Emmy Award for directing several public service ads.

  • Harvey Brownstone Interviews Rodney Allen Rippy, Former Child Star, Actor
    2025/05/27

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Rodney Allen Rippy, Former Child Star, Actor

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s guest, Rodney Allen Rippy, is an actor, producer, TV personality, radio host, business man and humanitarian who first captured our hearts at the tender age of 3 years old. His over-the-top cuteness, infectious giggle and precocious personality made him an overnight sensation when he became the national spokesperson the popular fast food chain, Jack-in-the-Box.

He was one of the biggest child stars of the 70s and appeared on many iconic TV shows including “Laugh-In”, “The Six Million Dollar Man”, “Marcus Welby”, “Police Story”, and he had a co-starring role on the Saturday morning children’s show, “The Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine”. And when he guest starred on “The Odd Couple”, HE was the one who first used the phrase, “You’re fired.”

He also appeared in classic movies like “Blazing Saddles” and “Oh God, Book 2”. As a child, our guest had his own talking doll made by MATTEL, AND he was also a recording artist. In fact, his 1973 hit song “Take Life a Little Easier”, recorded when he was only 5 years old, made him the youngest music artist in history to have a song on the Billboard Charts, a record which STILL has not been surpassed.

As an adult, our guest has appeared in movies like “Checking the Gate”, “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star”, “Flowers in the Snow” and “To the Top”, and on TV, you’ve seen him in “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”, “Howie Goes to Hollywood” and “The Mis-adventures of Camp Elaine”. He’s also had a successful career in radio broadcasting.

And beyond his show business career, our guest has had his own marketing firm, he’s been a film production executive, and he has his own charitable foundation, the Rippy Foundation, which supports at-risk youth, seniors and veterans.

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Fred Mollin, Acclaimed Music Producer, Songwriter, Film and TV Composer

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s guest, Fred Mollin, is a true giant in the music world. Although he may not be a household name, I guarantee that you’ve heard his music multiple times and in a variety of mediums.

He’s a multi-award-winning record producer, musician, songwriter, film and TV composer and music director, who first came to international prominence in the late 70’s when he produced Dan Hill’s albums, most notably “Longer Fuse”, which produced the classic Grammy nominated hit song, "SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH". He went on to make critically acclaimed records with some of the greatest superstars in music history including Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Mathis, Carole King, Billy Joel, Glen Campbell, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, Natalie Cole, Chris Stapleton – and believe me, I’m just scratching the surface.

He also spent 17 years as a highly successful composer for television and film, writing scores for major motion pictures like “Hanoi Hilton”, “Fast Company”, “Spring Fever”, “The Fall”, “Friday the 13th: The New Blood AND Jason Takes Manhattan”, as well as for the “Friday the 13th” TV series and many other hit TV shows including “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Hard Copy”, “Outer Limits” and “My Secret Identity”.

He also composed the music scores for dozens of TV movies including “Amy Fisher: My Story”, “Little Criminals”, “White Lies” and “Daydream Believer: The Monkees Story”, on which he also served as music director. He’s also been the Vice President of A&R for Walt Disney Records and produced a whole slew of children’s lullaby albums under the Disney label, as well as executive producing the blockbuster show and CD, “High School Musical – The Concert”. Our guest has won 3 Juno Awards, a Gemini Award and 5 SOCAN Awards.

And now, he’s released a highly insightful and terrifically entertaining memoir entitled, “Unplugged: Stories and Secrets from a Life of Making Records, Scoring Film, and Working with the Legends of Music.”
