Gunsmoke, “Westbound,” originally broadcast on CBS on November 1, 1959. Listed as episode 395, this broadcast revisits a script first heard in 1953. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester.

Dillon and Chester travel to Abilene to take murder suspect Jack Daggett into custody, but the arrest is only the beginning. With Daggett’s influential family close at hand and a westbound train to Dodge City waiting, the two lawmen face mounting pressure to hold their prisoner. Written by Les Crutchfield and directed by Norman Macdonnell.
