From the very beginning of time, we see God declaring that we were not meant to live alone. This truth is demonstrated by the way God created us to need one another and to live in community. Each one of us is gifted by God to bring something to the Body of Christ that no one else can bring, and He has ordained our days on earth so that we make that particular contribution when and where He places us. We need each other! In the same way that your body does not function at optimal levels if one part is sick or missing, the Body of Christ needs all its parts in order to be completely effective. Do you know what part God created you to play? What talents and gifts do you bring that could benefit the whole Body? We need you to serve in our community! Serve it up by using your gifts and talents for the Kingdom.

The cornerstone of service is to honor others with our time, talents, money, or attention. When we share these precious resources to benefit other people, we demonstrate the heart of Christ—and we shock them! Jesus, the Savior of the world, shocked his disciples by humbling himself to wash their feet. It was an act of care but also an invitation to understand what it means to lead and serve in His Kingdom. Instead of vying for the power of first place, we are to humble ourselves and become last. This is a jolting revelation, but it unlocks the blessings of Heaven. So, where do you spend your time, talents, and treasure? Does your calendar reflect a quest to bless others? How about your bank account? This is a moment to embrace Kingdom principles. Take a step to put others above yourself this week. Serve it up by expressing honor to those around you and see lives transformed!

In our society today, we place all of our emphasis on getting what we want, advancing above other people, and winning at all costs. What if the way we live every day is completely upside down? What if the right perspective is to recognize how small we are but also how privileged we are to play a part in something bigger than ourselves? Gideon was a man with deep insecurities, but God was calling him to rescue the Israelites from a terrifying enemy.
