This is the last of our first series of six episodes of the 'Glory in the Mess' podcast. In this episode, Helen Carr, Claire Dillamore and Robin Dillamore share a conversation around the practicalities of Practising the Presence of God in different life circumstances. All three of us belong to Presence House of Worship, a Christian community in Blacon (a suburb of Chester in England), which is made up of about a dozen adults and children who gather through the week to worship, fellowship and share meals together.
The discussion falls into three main areas. First, we circle back to Frank Laubach's book ("Letters by a Modern Mystic") and take a few minutes to discuss his practical advice about on how to win 'the game with minutes.' Then we reflect on our personal progress over the last two years in learning how to practise God's presence in community. In the final part, we look ahead to future episodes in which we plan to share some of the lessons we have learned in our journey of intentional Christian community, which began in November 2018.
The main resources referred to throughout this podcast series have been "The Practice of the Presence of God" by Brother Lawrence, "Letters by a Modern Mystic" by Frank Laubach, and "How to (actually) pray without ceasing," an article by Henri Nouwen which can be accessed at https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2022/01/24/henri-nouwen-prayer-unceasing-242269/
