Despite enduring significant heartache, Johanna remains resilient and maintains her faith in God, trusting that He will support her through any challenges she encounters. It can be difficult to convey one’s emotions to those who have not experienced the loss of a close family member or loved one. Life becomes particularly challenging when these important individuals are no longer present. As time goes on, one may ponder the reasons behind such losses and experience profound sadness, questioning how to mend a broken heart.

It is essential to recognize that faith in God can provide strength during sorrowful times. By spending time with remaining loved ones, one’s heart can gradually heal and grow. They can offer support and assistance in coping with loss. Everyone needs someone to help them navigate difficult times. Therefore, it is crucial to reconsider and embrace the support available to us.

  • #9 - Finding New Footing!
    2025/06/11
Caitlyn is 27 years old and recently married. She has dedicated the past four years to working as a medical receptionist for a psychiatrist, a role that highlights her commitment to helping others in difficult times.

Her journey through loss began at a young age. In 2009, when she was only 11 years old, her grandfather succumbed to cancer. His decline was a slow but painful process for the family, who witnessed the heartbreaking transformation up close. Though she was young, the profound sense of loss left a haunting emptiness that she still carries.

Tragedy struck again in 2014 when her father was killed in a motorbike accident. At just 16, she faced the reality of losing him devastatingly—he was hit by a taxi while navigating an intersection. It was a day that began like any other; she was home, and when her mother came to wake her, she couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling caused by the absence of her father's usual morning message—a daily ritual that had always connected them.

His absence had shaped her life in "ways she never expected. She missed countless moments, especially her birthdays, each one serving as a constant reminder of the void left by her father's departure. Every milestone she reaches echoes the love and support she once had, making her journey all the more bittersweet. After his accident, he wasn't there to celebrate her 21st birthday or share in the joy of her wedding day on May 3, 2025.

Adding to her struggles, she battles Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3a, and during a recent check-up, she learned that her condition is gradually worsening. Her kidney journey began at a young age, but she only received an official diagnosis in 2017. Growing up, she spent many days in and out of the hospital, and being a daddy's girl, she always sought comfort from her father. Through every drip and blood draw, no one could calm her unless her dad was right there holding her hand. She comes from a long line of pastors, with grandfathers on both sides of the family guiding their path, as well as her father. Her parents encouraged her to pray and trust God to work in her life regarding her health.
When she lost her dad and received her diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in 2017, it felt as if her support had been taken away. With her father no longer around, she wondered who would pray for her. It seemed like the blessing of healing she received at the age of 11 had vanished with him. However, her amazing mother helped her stay grounded through it all, keeping her faith intact, and since 2017, God has continued to support her

Sandy Lotz-Weiner is a Life and Grief Coach, the Owner of Inspired Life Coaching, and the Author of the book "Crossing the Ocean of Grief." She is also a speaker and podcaster. Sandy is a widow, a bereaved daughter, and an immigrant from South Africa. Her experiences with the topic of loss and grief stem from her personal life's journey as well as her ongoing desire to learn, heal, and grow throughout her life.

Sandy lost her dad to cancer when she was 23. In 2003, she immigrated to the USA with her late husband, Tony, and they settled in beautiful Monterey, CA, to pursue her profession as a pharmacist.
In April 2017, Tony passed away suddenly, and 10 months later, in Dec 2017, she lost her Mom after a long, slow decline to dementia. After going on her grief journey, Sandy felt called to study with David Kessler, a Death and Grief expert, to become a Grief Coach and Educator. This coincided with the unexpected loss of her pharmacy job at the tail end of COVID in 22. Sandy's desire to support other people going through loss, combined with her job loss, provided her with the perfect opportunity to start her own coaching business and to write and publish her first book, " Crossing the Ocean of Grief (Amazon), in Oct 2023. In November of 2024, Sandy and her sister Maya started collaborating and launched their first 6 Episode podcast series, "Crossing the Ocean of Grief," on Spotify.

Sandy believes that no one should have to go through loss and grief alone. She believes in the healing value of sharing your story, that we heal in the community, and that no loss is too small or too old to be grieved fully. For it is only once we have grieved fully that we can create the next INSPIRED chapter of our lives. And live fully again.......
