Getting Back to the Basics

Sometimes the next level doesn’t require something new , it requires a stronger foundation.

In this episode of the Not As Glamorous Podcast, we’re getting back to the basics. With school back in session and everyone settling into routines again, it’s the perfect reminder that sometimes we need a little review too. Before we keep chasing the next goal, opportunity, relationship, or version of ourselves, we have to ask: Is my foundation strong enough to hold what I’m asking God for?

We’re talking about what it means to build your life on the Rock and why the storms of life often reveal cracks that were already there. A strong foundation doesn’t mean you’ll never experience disappointment, uncertainty, heartbreak, or change — it means those things don’t have the power to completely uproot you.

And sometimes strengthening that foundation is a lot simpler than we make it. It may mean returning to prayer, Scripture, movement, rest, budgeting, boundaries, discipline, or simply keeping the promises you make to yourself. The basics may not always feel exciting, but they’re often the very things that keep us grounded.

So instead of asking, “What else do I need to add?” maybe the better question is: What do I already know I need to return to?

Going back to the basics isn’t going backward. Sometimes it’s exactly how God prepares you to build higher.
