Many Christians believe in what I would call the doctrine of generational curses wherein it is said to be caused by the sins of the fathers or certain covenants one’s forefather entered with idols. I like how the Bible describes idols, they are mere objects, non-living thing and very inconsequential. Evil Spirits takes advantage of people’s ignorance to manipulate them using these idols as a cover. I come from Nigeria where some people believe their destinies were tied to a tree or thwarted as a result of covenants their ancestors entered with these idols and therefore they will have to go through various rituals, fasting, prayers and exercises to break free from these curses.

One is therefore left to wonder “can we be in covenant with Jesus and also be in covenant with idols?”

The devil isn’t as powerful as most people think he is. In Africa, he is such a big deal in churches and ministries that a large chunk of service times are dedicated to talking about him, praying against him and unmasking who he is. Most believers credit all their failures, misfortunes and bad experiences to the devil and this way, instead of making Jesus more popular in our Churches, we make the devil popular and even brand him as very powerful, so powerful that we will have to struggle and struggle again to be able to subdue him on a temporal basis.

It’s possible to live a life free of bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, slander and other evils! But wait a minute, often we don’t know how much evil harsh words are. When you are harsh towards others, you are dampening them emotionally.
