The postseason in both college football and the NFL has delivered in a big way. Many of the games have gone down to the wire! The College Football National Championship is set between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes! It will be played in Miami, adding an interesting wrinkle to an exciting matchup.

I share my takeaways from BYU’s rivalry win over the Utes, 89-84! The “Big Three” delivered once again; all scored 20+ points. The Cougars are transitioning to their demanding Big 12 schedule, but are still riding high with an impressive 15-1 record. The college football quarterfinals were initially concerning. The high-seeded teams, coming off a three-and-a-half-week break, looked rusty and outmatched (the format is all but certain to change, starting as soon as next year). Then came the Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss and Georgia played a game for the ages, with the Rebels coming out on top in a wild finish. They will face a red-hot Miami team coming off an upset of the Buckeyes. Indiana will play fellow Big 10 member Oregon in a rematch!

BYU Football has retained key players and announced Kelly Poppinga as their new Defensive Coordinator. Notable players such as Isaiah Glasker, Bear Bachmeier, and Faletau Satuala are “running it back” for 2026. BYU Men’s Hoops is on a red-hot start to open Big 12 play! BYU beat Georgia Tech 25-21 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. They spent the week enjoying sunshine and roller coasters, then channeled their inner Cardiac Cougs to beat the Yellow Jackets. Bear Bachmeier was the MVP thanks to his 325 passing yards and grit. Evan “Shmev” Johnson had a game-sealing interception (again!) to bring home the trophy.

BYU had its first 12-win football season since 2001 after beating Georgia Tech. They did so without LJ Martin and Jack Kelly. Jay Hill, the defensive coordinator, may bolt for the Michigan job alongside Kyle Whittingham. The College Football Playoff is in full swing! Two home teams went down – Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Ironically, both are from the SEC… The rhetoric is fascinating now! BYU plays Georgia Tech Saturday in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. A win would cap off a fantastic year for the Cougars.

A prominent headline is that BYU and Notre Dame have scheduled two football games! They will play a home-and-home series, beginning in Provo. BYU Men’s Basketball capped off their non-conference schedule Monday night and will begin Big 12 play after a needed rest! AJ Dybantsa has developed into a superstar over the past few games. Three teams are aiming for two spots. The math shows that only two of the three will get a place, and one will be unhappy. The gravity of this situation is remarkable. Notre Dame got the wrong end of the deal Sunday morning as they and BYU are left out of the Playoff. Once again, ESPN got its way (as it so often does ;). Unfortunately, BYU lost its Big 12 Championship Game to Texas Tech. However, their foundation is set, and their future is bright.

BYU Football will play Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl (Orlando, FL) after Notre Dame once again weaseled out of playing the Cougars. It’s not the first time they’ve done so, but it is a bold statement to stand up to ESPN. The controversy has never been this large in College Football as it was this weekend. BYU makes history in its third year in the Big 12 (the First time in a P4 conference) by reaching the conference championship game. The Cougars have everything to play for against the Red Raiders, as they look to avenge their beatdown in Lubbock. It is played at AT&T Stadium (also known as Jerry World), which seats 80,000. BYU travels well – They could pull off the upset.

On October 3rd, BYU Football beat WVU to move to 5-0. They entered a 6-game stretch that looked formidable. Somehow, the Cougars went 5-1 and currently sit at 10-1! They control their own destiny and have a path to the playoffs! Their win over Cincinnati was crucial, and they delivered. This year’s team is special and deserves a spot in the CFP.

Feast Week is paramount during Thanksgiving! BYU Men’s Hoops plays in Orlando on Thanksgiving, then the Football team faces UCF Saturday Morning. A win clinches their spot in the Big 12 Championship! Rivalry Week in College Football always has juicy matchups. Unbeaten Ohio State plays its rival Michigan in “The Game”. Alabama plays at Auburn in the atypical Iron Bowl. Let me preface by saying good luck to a road team playing a night game at Lavell Edwards Stadium. BYU is often called the “Vampire Cougs” for a reason – they win home games. TCU was the latest victim on Saturday night, as the Cougs outplayed them. It was BYU’s most complete game of the year – all three facets of the game (Offense, Defense, Special Teams) were red-hot.

BYU looks to carry its momentum in a big road game vs Cincinnati. Although the CFP Committee disrespects them, BYU still controls its own destiny. Winning out would earn them a Big 12 championship, which would secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. The playoff race is a mess following Oklahoma’s upset of #4 Alabama. Many teams are on the bubble, hoping for an at-large bid. Men’s Hoops plays Wisconsin in the Delta Center Friday afternoon – It’s a rematch of the March Madness last year!
