THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAAAAY!
It’s that blissful time of year when no food has too much cheese, no drink has too much bourbon, and no date night has too much movie. This is Episode Four of Season Two of A Couple of Old Fashioneds: Becca and Joe’s Double Feature Date Night at the Movies!
On this episode the Theme is, “Horrible Vacations”, and the movies are:
FUNNY GAMES & THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS!
Join Becca and Joe in their first episode embracing the chaos of their Thematic Sorting Hat, which from now on will randomly allocate a different theme every week. With the holidays coming up though, this theme could not have been randomly allocated at a more appropriate time! Whose film mocks our sense of security within societal rules, and whose film mocks our societal rules within false senses of security? Will this double dose of dire dourness dull their debate or deepen it?
Watch the episode to find out if you guessed right, and stay tuned to the end to find out what the theme will be next week!
Don’t forget now the show is its own broadcast to subscribe to its YouTube and Podcast channels and stay up to date on latest episodes! Follow it on Instagram and Letterboxd to follow the complete movie lists and let Becca and Joe know in the Comment Sections on YouTube or wherever you Podcast whether you agree with their picks, and what movie you like to watch to feel better off at home. Sometimes, a staycation is all you need.
After all, the greatest gift a movie lover can give another is a great title they have yet to discover. That’s what movies are all about - they’re the only kind of marathon worth participating in and they’re what Date Nights are made for.
So settle in, grab your favorite old fashioned drink with your favorite old fashioned person (if that’s the pleasure of your own company then we completely feel you), and revel in a couple old fashioned conversations with Becca and Joe. They are, let’s face it, a pretty old fashioned kind of couple themselves.
