Louie explains how seeking protection, acceptance, clout, and a father figure drew him deeper into that life amid a diverse, volatile environment, while his biological father was largely absent after moving to Delaware and later kicked him out. After college in Pensacola studying criminal justice, he found purpose helping at-risk young men and worked in juvenile justice for seven years. Now a father of two, he discusses being unprepared for parenting, challenges of having hard conversations with kids, and building a clear vision through entrepreneurship, including Melanin Origins, The Meditative Coach, and leading the nonprofit Building Pathways to connect disadvantaged people to high-paying construction careers.
