概要
What if the story of Puerto Rican migration to the mainland United States isn’t just about seeking opportunity but about shaping identity—and reimagining what Puerto Rico’s future could be? For decades, many assumed that life in the diaspora would lead Puerto Ricans to embrace statehood. But that expectation hasn’t fully held.
Across generations, organizers are seeing something different: Puerto Ricans in the diaspora questioning long-held assumptions and, in growing numbers, taking a closer look at independence as a path forward.
In this episode, five diaspora organizations share how and why they’ve come to support independence for Puerto Rico. Through their work, they explore history, challenge dominant narratives, and make the case for a future shaped beyond colonial constraints.
