    We don’t have to be afraid to ask God to search our hearts and cleanse anything that doesn’t belong. Jesus said, “I am gentle and humble in heart…” (Matthew 11:29) God is gentle and desires for us to have a clean heart before Him. All we need to do is genuinely ask Him to take it away. Then… let it go! God Himself will not only cleanse us but also fill what’s missing with something better so we can live righteously.

    Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

    Only God can satisfy us completely. Only God can sustain us permanently. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” (also see Jeremiah 29:13). As we longingly draw near to the Lord, refusing to accept any other means of satisfaction, He will surely draw near to us and reveal Himself in ways we never dreamed of.
