概要

Welcome to Best of Redmond! Redmond's twice-weekly newsletter and podcast about all the amazing things happening in Redmond for the next seven days!📰 Free Park Day Hits This Week If you’ve been meaning to get outside, Wednesday, April 22 is your shot. It’s one of Washington’s free state park days, so you don’t need a Discover Pass to park. That means spots around Redmond and beyond are open without that usual fee. State parks, trails, and viewpoints all included. Just know this doesn’t apply to Sno-Parks or some DNR land. Still, solid excuse to get outside midweek. Plan ahead though… these days tend to get busy fast.🎵 Jazz Alchemy Live at SoulFood There’s live jazz at SoulFood CoffeeHouse on Sunday, April 26 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Jazz Alchemy is playing, and it’s exactly the kind of laid-back Sunday set you want to walk into. It’s at 15748 Redmond Way, and if you’ve been there before, you already know the vibe… cozy, a little quirky, and easy to hang out for a while. Drinks, light food, and live music all in one spot. Show up a little early if you want a good seat.🏃 Cat-Themed 5K at Marymoor There’s a cat-themed 5K and fun run happening Saturday, April 25 at Marymoor Park, and yeah, it’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s a run or walk benefiting MEOW Cat Rescue, so you’re getting outside and supporting a good cause at the same time. Expect a pretty relaxed, community vibe more than a hardcore race scene. It’s at Marymoor, so plenty of space and good trails. If you’re going, bring layers… mornings out there can still be chilly.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Arbor Day at Idylwood Park There’s an Arbor Day celebration happening Wednesday, April 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Idylwood Park. The City’s putting this on, and it’s very much a hands-on kind of thing. You can help mulch trees, join a short tree walk, and they’ll talk through when and how to plant in the PNW. It’s free and super family-friendly. It’s at 3650 West Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. Meet at the picnic shelter when you get there.🐾 Goat Hike at the Watershed Preserve There’s a goat hike happening Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 to 11:00 am near the Redmond Watershed Preserve, and yes… you’re hiking with goats. The goats are coming from Farrel-McWhirter Park, and they’ll walk with the group while guides point out plants and wildlife along the trail. It’s designed for ages 5 and up, and registration is required for everyone attending. They meet at Juel Park to start. This one will fill up, so don’t wait if you want in.🎭 Kodachrome at SecondStory Repertory There’s a short run of a play called Kodachrome happening April 24 through April 26 at SecondStory Repertory in Redmond Town Center. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm, and Sunday at 2:00 pm. It’s about a small town photographer and the lives of the people around her, with a mix of humor and nostalgia. Tickets are $25, and seating is pretty close to the stage, so it feels more personal than a big theater. Grab tickets ahead if you want a specific night.🕰️ Redmond History Minute Okay, it's time for the Redmond History Minute, where we share an interesting piece of history, trivia, or tidbit about life in and around Redmond. The land where Chateau Ste.
