概要
This message tackles another phrase that gets thrown around when things get messy: “Forgive and forget.” It sounds spiritual, but it can feel impossible when the memory is still there—betrayal, abandonment, humiliation, deep wounds that don’t just disappear. From Ephesians 4:31–32, we see that God never calls us to pretend it didn’t happen. Forgiveness in Scripture is release, not erasing—it’s choosing to put bitterness down so the wound stops poisoning your present, even if you still remember what happened.
You’ll hear a clear, freeing framework: forgiveness doesn’t mean instant trust, and it doesn’t require you to remove wise boundaries. Forgiveness is rooted in God’s grace—“forgive as the Lord forgave you”—and sometimes it’s a decision you have to make more than once as your heart heals. The goal isn’t spiritual amnesia; the goal is freedom: letting God handle justice, guarding your heart with wisdom, and walking lighter because the offense doesn’t get to rule you anymore.
