Recently, a story unraveled around Jack Harlow, a white rapper whose claims of getting “blacker” fueled controversy. His attempt to dive deeper into Black music while sidestepping critical cultural nuances underscores the lingering complexities of cultural appropriation and authenticity. It sparked conversations about the presence—or absence—of Black voices in spaces where they should matter most.
