このコンテンツについて
In this episode Im talking to George Shirtcliffe about his experiences of awakening to the deeper Self.
We begin by talking about Christmas and the shift from the traditional message to the discovery of the Christ within or 'Christ Consciousness'.
George talks about his vision of the stable, in the nativity scene, illumined in the darkness which, for him, is like awakening.
George quotes Thomas Merton and we agree that this beautifully sums up what he is expressing in this discussion,
‘The contemplative life is a life of Self-discovery. It is like the flowering of a deeper identity beyond this earthly self. It is a deeper identity on an entirely different plane from the mere psychological discovery. It’s the discovery of paradoxical new identity that lives in intimate union with your own heart, of God’ spirit and your own innermost Self. This Self is not centred on itself; it is centred on the one centre that is ‘everywhere and nowhere’. In whom all are encountered and all proceed.’
Thomas Merton
