    Mark 6:1-13
Happy 250th birthday, America! What a blessing it is to live in this country. Is it perfect? Not even close. There are about 349 million reasons why our nation could never be perfect. But the miracle resides in the truth that our nation was, in fact, established under God. In spite of all of the imperfections, that truth is the sole reason that America still exists today. This country is special. It is set apart in so many ways. Unfortunately, very few people realize this truth anymore, and even fewer realize how quickly a nation like ours could cease to exist. We have something to celebrate, but more importantly, we have a nation to pray for and strive to bring back to God.
This week, we will continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark as we watch Jesus’ return to His hometown for the first time since His ministry began. How would those who knew Him best receive Him? The outcome might not be what you would expect. What can we learn from the way they treated Jesus? Also this week, Jesus sends out the 12 for the first time on their own. He gives them an interesting set of “rules” to follow. How do those apply to us as we share the Gospel with the people in our lives? We can’t wait to share it all with you!

    Mark 4:35-5-20

    The storms will come…

At the end of Mark 4 Jesus challenges the disciples to dosomething new. Something that was likely very uncomfortable for them. Probably something that made all of them a bit uneasy. Then after Jesus challenges them, He goes to sleep and they all nearly drown? The storms of life come up on us in an instant. All it takes is one phone call, text, diagnosis, or conversation and life goes from calm to chaos in moments. Jesus longs to help us prepare for these times the best we can, but even more than that He longs to help us through the storms of life when they come.

    Family’s tough

    Mark 3:20-35

The text this week begins in Mark 3:20. It involves Jesus family. His mother and His brothers. But it is probably not the type of family get together that you might be thinking. Although, I guess that might depend on what type of family you comefrom. The teachers of the law are back in the picture this week, this time calling Jesus satan. They are trying hard to discredit all that Jesus is saying and doing. Why would they take this approach?

Who You Are is greater than Where You Go
    Colossians 3:1–4, Ephesians 2:10, 1 Peter 2:9
This week, we are taking a one-week break from our study in Mark to encourage all of our graduates. The world is obsessed with where you are going and what you can achieve. The world wants your identity to be found in where you work, how much you make, or what your title is. But God has a different plan. The truth is that our identity is not something we earn; it’s something we receive. This message is a great reminder for all of us in this high-pressure world that we live in.
