On Summer House and In the City, Amanda's season-long arc reads completely differently once you know what happened off camera. Her self-producing is visible and it's failing, and Lindsey dropping the detail about Kyle's multiple affairs at the exact moment the franchise needed momentum reads as a calculated move, whether it's genuine solidarity or savvy franchise economics. Four books round out the week: Jason Reynolds' Long Way Down in verse, Tiffany Crumb's thriller This Story Might Save Your Life, Fredrik Backman's Brit-Marie Was Here, and Marie NDiaye's The Witch, a 1996 French novel that is beautifully written and recommended with ambivalence, best revisited in October when the mood aligns.
