In this episode Patty sat down with head coach from Element Jiu Jitsu in the Barossa Valley, Tommy Gerlach. Tommy & Patty share a very similar, but different path, both being country boys from small country towns that both discovered martial arts & went on to coach & run their own gyms. They both shared their experiences that have got them to this point so far, they discussed the difficulties of coaching & running a small business in covid times & also dove deep into mental health. With Tommy being diagnosed as bi - polar with borderline personality disorder, he was able to really give an insight into what its like living with mental health issues, the effect it has on him, his family & his ability to coach & also about his experience in the mental health support system. This one was a very interesting chat!
