In this episode of the Three Little Birds podcast, I’m exploring the difference between being kind and being nice - and why people-pleasing doesn’t create the peace we think it will.
So many of us were taught to be nice: be polite, keep everyone happy, don’t make a fuss, say yes, and avoid upsetting people. But what happens when being 'nice' means abandoning yourself?
In this episode, I talk about how niceness can sometimes come from fear - fear of conflict, rejection, judgement or not being liked - while true kindness comes from love, honesty and self-respect. We’ll look at how people-pleasing shows up in everyday life, why it can leave you feeling exhausted or resentful, and how saying no can sometimes be the kindest thing you do.
I also share practical prompts to help you reconnect with what you really want, take up space in your own life, and choose kindness in a way that includes you too.
This episode is for anyone who is ready to stop over-explaining, over-giving or apologising for having needs.
If this episode has you nodding along, The Safe Space is a beautiful next step.
It’s a calm, supportive membership for women who want to reconnect with themselves, build confidence and grow with gentle accountability.
