Your business systems will be the key to your education consulting business making it or falling apart. The problem is that most of us, myself included, started our businesses out of our passion for a field in education. We had all the expertise and experience in education - perhaps we even have experience in the coaching or presenting field - maybe we had the opportunity to do it while we were still working for a district - and we were good at it, so we thought - surely I can step out and consult with more consistency - and get paid for it! And you can!
But you probably figured out that without having a business model, or business system to wrap your expertise in, one (or more) of a few different things probably happened:
- You are relying on one-off trainings - you are building new trainings all the time. You have 25 that you can offer, but you don’t know how to market yourself and you’re just waiting for the next call to come in to ask you to come to their school.
- You’ve built out a resource or course or training (or maybe all of them), but you are having trouble getting it in front of decision makers.
- You are really uncomfortable “selling” - so you’re holding on to all of the solutions you have to offer the world.
