In this episode Arthur Keegan (composer and Concert Secretary for Skipton Music) chats with Helen Charlston who is Skipton Music's Artist in Association for 2026-27. She will be giving two evening concerts as part of the series as well as a children's concert and workshops with local young an d emerging musicians. The first evening concert is with Shiolto Kynoch at the piano on Tuesday 3rd November 2026. She will return to Skipton with early-music consort Fretwork in February 2027.
We discuss Schuman's totemic cycle 'Dichterliebe' and some other pieces that will feature in her November concert as well as the joys of concert-going and how collaboration with an accompanist feels on stage. We end with the same question each week: "What has been your best musical experience in the last year?".
Helen's latest album (with Sholto Kynoch accompanying) was released on Delphian records in May 2026 and is available wherever your stream or buy your music.
