For so much of my life, I understood who I was through the roles I carried—mother, wife, caregiver, employee, and the person others depended on. When those roles began to change, I found myself asking a difficult question: Who am I when I cannot answer with a relationship or a job title?

In this episode, I share how I began finding pieces of myself through the interests that have followed me throughout my life. Painting, planting, fishing, cooking, stargazing, working on small motors, and even learning how to create this podcast have shown me qualities I did not always recognize in myself.

I talk about what facing a blank canvas taught me about being a beginner, how Sunshine helped keep me moving through a difficult season, and why being needed is not always the same as being truly known.

The roles I have carried will always be part of my story, but they are not the whole story. Beneath every title, there has always been a curious, creative, capable woman—and I am finally learning how to know her.

As you listen, I hope you will ask yourself: When you look beneath all the roles you have played, what quality do you recognize in yourself—and where would you like to use it next?
