Christ is the Light of the World. Darkness did not overcome Him, yet it remains. The Church is the city on a hill, called to let our light shine so that men may see our good works and glorify the Father (Matt. 5:16).
We were once darkness, but God made us light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. The fruit is goodness, righteousness, and truth. Darkness is only an absence; light is substantial. When it shines, hidden things become visible and darkness flees.
The Church illuminates the world by speaking the truth in love—preaching, testimony, gentle rebuke, and even holy mockery when sin parades itself with pomp—and, more fundamentally, by simply being light. Our lives and good works shine. The Church is not merely a walking protest; we call sinners into the kingdom of Christ.
