Peace in the home is a beautiful thing. Marriage was made for glorious harmony: a man leaves father and mother, cleaves to his wife, and the two become one flesh—a union that speaks of Christ and the Church. The devil hates that harmony and first struck it by turning husband against wife. In our day that strife has hardened into feminism, which divides men and women and pollutes the fountain from which children and nations flow.
Paul does not tell all women to submit to all men. Every wife is to submit to her own husband, as to the Lord. That frees her from every other man, and it also limits a husband’s authority: a Christian wife is loyal to Christ first, and will not go along with sin.
Marriage is about Christ and the Church making all things new. Christ lays down His life for His Bride; the Church receives His grace and multiplies it into the world. So the husband loves, serves, and labors for his wife, and she receives that life and brings it forth for others.
Walk as wise women: do not feed feminist propaganda or try to become a man. Follow your husband’s lead—listen, trust, go along with him, and be patient. Do not live for yourself. Women were made to be life-givers. A godly wife creates gain; she is marked by her industry (Prov. 31). Be really into your husband and your children.
