Grief doesn't follow a calendar. It shows up on the good days and the hard ones, the everydays and on holidays, in songs on the radio and quiet moments in the car. And for kids who have lost a mom or dad, it can feel impossibly isolating. This episode is a live conversation about all of it: grief, loss, resilience, and the power of showing up.
I partnered with Empower, a national nonprofit supporting children and young adults who have lost a parent, to host a night at The Boca Raton centered on community, conversation, and a shared mission to strengthen Empower's South Florida chapter.
I sat down with four powerful voices: Cara Belvin (Empower founder, on the moment that inspired her to build this one-of-a-kind mentor program for kids in grief), Logan Husband (FAU football player, on losing his father at five and the people who stepped in along the way), Jere Croke (father of four, on navigating life after losing his wife Detra and what "controlled chaos" looks like in real time) and Skye Dyer (singer, writer, and daughter of the late, legendary Dr. Wayne Dyer, on the lessons in love and kindness she carries with her).
