Always tired. Falling asleep in the middle of class. Not being able to concentrate and going on your phone the second you get home from school or work being exhausted to the bones. Having a midday crash and feeling completely unenergetic past 6pm. Many of these things are common, but should not be normal. We believe that our bodies are like a battery; you start your day recharged from sleep and throughout the day, you do things such as work or movement that drain energy, so that by the end of the day, you have no energy from your battery left and are ready to sleep. But does that not sound dreadful; running on a half empty tank for half your day? And more importantly; what happens when you don’t sleep well and wake up with an uncharged battery? The truth is that your body is not supposed to operate that way. Sure, your activities throughout the day can fatigue you. But the belief that sleep is the sole source of respiration is simply false. There are so many factors that determine your energy levels and things you can do - even apart from your nutrition, sleep patterns or general stress level - to recover even during the day. Because let’s be honest; you get home tired, you scroll for a few hours because you think that’s relaxing and want to stay awake to get some more work done later, but then you’re too tired for that sand end up sleeping way too late. Your morning energy starts with your night routine. If your body isn’t regulated and your brain is in stress mode, you won’t sleep or recover well. So let’s find out what we can do about this!
