概要
In this episode, I take a closer look at one of the boldest LEGO ICONS releases in recent memory and a long-awaited moment for Transformers fans. LEGO finally brings a Decepticon to life in brick form, pulling heavily from classic Generation 1 roots while layering in modern design choices that make this set feel equal parts nostalgic and experimental.
This build immediately stands apart from previous Transformers sets, not just because of the character choice, but because LEGO introduces one of its newest pieces of technology here. The LEGO Sound Brick appears for only the third time ever, adding more than twenty voice lines and sound effects that feel ripped straight from childhood. It is undeniably cool, undeniably nostalgic, and yes, it also plays a role in pushing the price higher, which makes the value conversation especially interesting.
I compare this release to LEGO’s earlier Transformers builds and talk through where this set evolves the formula and where it takes some risks. From the build process to the final display presence, there is a lot to like here, but there are also a few moments that may divide fans depending on what they want from a premium licensed LEGO set.
Is this the most ambitious Transformers set LEGO has released so far? Does the added technology enhance the experience or distract from it? And does this finally feel like the moment Decepticons arrive on equal footing in the LEGO world?
I break down what works, what surprised me, and whether this set earns its place among LEGO’s best licensed builds of the year. If Generation 1 Transformers meant something to you, this is one you will want to hear.
