Welcome to the new age, folks! While the world is an increasingly complex maze of globally connected businesses and enterprises, there has been a recent resurgence of towards the notion of supporting your local businesses first and foremost. It's true, many of the products we enjoy today are almost certainly going to be a big name brand. Think Iphone or Android, for example. However, we use hundreds of products on a daily basis, many of which can be found being made by your very own neighbours. While some choose to enter this arena and fight the uphill battle towards a sustainable product and associated business, Kate Johnson and Julia Allen decided to join the fight in a completely different way while very much supporting the idea of buying locally in the Okanagan Valley

Thus, 'Locality' was born! Julia and Kate have entered the subscription box business, a landscape that is relatively new in the world of business. Their Locality subscription boxes elegantly contain and highlight the amazing products that the Okanagan Valley has to offer. Like every community, they felt theirs has something truly unique to offer the world. The subscription box is a testament to local products and a less formal or mainstream way to distribute them to the the marketplace.

In this chat, we talk about the subscription box business as a concept and it's applications in practice. We also delve into many other factors that come into play when starting any new business: confidence, passion and even the differences are respective strengths of introverts and extroverts.
