Delegated Authority
27.07.2025
Over the last couple of weeks we have laid foundation in what The Kingdom of God is like. The Kingdom is the central message of Jesus. It is not just about heaven or some time in the future — it is about God's rule and reign breaking in right now through His people.
We have come to learn that The Kingdom of God is advanced through His Church, His people. The local church consists of elders, deacons, saints. You are the saints, the priests, you are set apart for the plans and will of God.
The Bible reveals that every believer is part of the royal priesthood, meaning we have direct access to God and are called to minister before Him. (1 Peter 2)
In the New Testament, the word saints (ἅγιοι, hagioi) simply means holy ones, referring to all who are set apart in Christ. Holy. Consecration. Set apart. For what? For God, for Him. (Rom 1 & most introducing letters)
The Kingdom of God is one of humility, lowliness, mutual submission, and as revealed in Ezekiel 47, there is a prophetic image that as we draw closer to God and as we remain in His will, the deeper we enter into the waters that is the will of His Spirit — the more surrender is required.
Finally, there are the 4 W’s to ministry. As we live surrendered to God’s will we come to recognise that ministry is for each and every single one of us. There is:
1. Worship – Lifestyle of intimacy with God, using gifts of the Holy Spirit
2. Warfare – Prayer, intercession, spiritual battle, power of the Holy Spirit
3. Witness – Evangelism, signs and wonders, making disciples
4. Work – Faithful acts service in the practical and unseen
(open in prayer)
Let us dive into this foundational understanding that you have been given, delegated authority!
Foundational Scriptures:
Ephesians 2:1-10 ESV
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Galatians 4:1-7 ESV
“I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.”
Acts 1:6-8 ESV
“So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses
