Waiting to "feel motivated" before you train? That's exactly why most people stall out.
This week, Ross and I unpack why motivation is the wrong thing to build on — and what actually keeps people consistent for the long haul:
– Why consistency comes FIRST and motivation only accentuates it (it can't be the thing that gets you started) – Finding your real "why" — training for life, not just the mirror ("What are you training for?" "Life.") – Why doing less in less time keeps you showing up (workouts went from 2.5 hours to 30–45 minutes) – How unrealistic goals set you up to quit — losing 5 lbs in a month is actually a win – Why you need to give it 4–6 months, not 4–6 weeks, before deciding it "isn't working" – Spotting barriers to success — sometimes the goal was planted by someone else and you don't actually want it – Why walking quietly beats running for fat loss, and where strength training fits
Bottom line: you won't always feel like it. Build the habit first, find a “why” that's actually yours, and let motivation be the bonus — not the requirement.
