概要
Dr. Laney Knowlton joins Dr. Shane W. Kraus, a licensed clinical psychologist and behavioral addictions researcher, for a conversation on how conditions such as compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD) and gambling-related problems are understood, diagnosed, and supported through research and clinical care. As Director of the UNLV Behavioral Addictions Lab and a contributor to the World Health Organization’s ICD-11 diagnostic criteria for CSBD, Dr. Kraus brings deep expertise in addiction, psychopathology, and at-risk populations.
Together, they explore the clinical and practical differences between impulse control challenges and compulsive behavior disorders, and why this distinction matters for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. The discussion also examines the broader landscape of behavioral addictions and highlights the ongoing need for increased research investment, funding, and evidence-based frameworks to strengthen prevention, assessment, and long-term recovery efforts.
