Dr. Assal Habibi joins us to talk about the impact of music on mental health. An associate professor of Psychology and Neurology and co-director of the University of Southern California's Brain and Creativity Institute, Dr. Habibi is also director of the USC Center for Music, Brain, and Society. She has been the lead investigator of a study, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and their Youth Orchestra program, investigating the effects of early childhood music education on the brain. To top it off, she is a classically trained pianist.
