Your freedom in Christ is real. But freedom has a limit — and that limit is your brother's conscience.

In this episode, Pastor Randy Johnson works through Romans 14:13-23, drawing a distinction that most teaching on this passage misses entirely. Being a stumbling block doesn't mean letting other people control your life. It means using your freedom in a way that causes a brother or sister to violate their own conscience. Those are two very different things — and knowing the difference matters.

Paul's argument is straightforward: if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Don't flaunt your freedom in front of someone whose faith isn't strong enough to handle it yet. The work of God in another person's life is worth more than your right to eat whatever you want.

The kingdom of God, Paul reminds us, is not a matter of eating and drinking. It is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. That reordering of priorities changes everything about how believers relate to one another across their differences.

The episode closes with one of the most searching statements in all of Romans — whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
