The Sixth Commandment, "Do not kill," is far more than a command against murder; it is God's call to value, protect, and cherish every human life because every person bears His image. Today, we will discover that the real issue isn't merely what our hands have done, but what our hearts value. Jesus reveals that anger, hatred, indifference, and even failing to love our neighbor and those without a voice can reflect a spirit that diminishes the worth of those God treasures. In our text today, we will see that right after the flood, the command that God gives is to not shed human blood. This text points back to creation, God's value for life, and forward to the cross. The cross forever declares the value of every human life, because God was willing to give His own Son to rescue us. Today, we will discover how the gospel not only forgives our failure to love life as God does but also transforms us into people who protect and honor life.
