“David & Stu . . . Unhinged!” offers a unique glimpse into the world's most pressing (and most trivial) issues through the eyes of two of Greenwich Village’s jaded residents, who are usually pissed off about something. From allowing people to legally sh** on our sidewalks to "discrimination" against fat people, David Simonetti, a writer and attorney, and Stu Richel, a critically acclaimed actor, screenwriter, and Vietnam War vet, offer an acerbic yet civilized perspective on politics and life in New York City. Occasionally veering into the abyss of rage, like Stu's unbridled contempt for Jane Fonda and David's rage about those who ask for ice cream samples, the duo from two different generations will enchant you with their common-sense reactions speckled with off-the-rails humor, anger, and dismay.Copyright 2025 David & Stu 政治・政府 社会科学

  • Viva Italiani, a Nobel Snub, Another Vindictive Purge, Climate Arsonists, & a Field of Dreams
    2025/10/12

Welcome to 63rd episode of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast..

In this episode, we will discuss Trump's peace deal in Gaza and how we begrudgingly acknowledge that this is a big achievement. The other topics covered include the following:

    1) October is Italian-American Heritage month, and we discuss Italian immigration to the United States that started in the late 19th century and the way Italians were mistreated, including a court ruling holding that Italians aren’t white, mass lynchings, employment discrimination, and internments. Even today, Italians are often portrayed as thugs and murderers, even though Italians set the foundations for Democratic societies and culture, and art.

    2) The award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan dissident, Maria Corina Machado, and the oppressive government in Venezuela under Nicholas Maduro, who has been running the country into the ground since 2013;

    3) One of the highlights of Trump’s second term is his vengeance campaign against his perceived enemies. In one case, he fired a respected prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, Maureen Comey. Being that she happens to be the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out how she lost her job.

    4) The LA wildfires in January caused substantial damage and led many leading Democrats like Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass & Bernie Sanders to claim that the fires were caused by climate change. This week, Jonathan Rinderknecht was arrested for starting the fire. So the next time Democrats act superior about their scientific expertise and climate change, we should all ignore their preaching.

    5) We will end by revisiting a small town in Iowa, Dyersville, where the movie Field of Dreams was filmed. This place evokes a simpler time before money infected baseball, and the film has had both negative and positive impacts on this town.

  • 62: Good Riddance Mayor Adams, the China Syndrome, MAGA’s Economic Mirage, & Tennessee Justice
    2025/10/05

Welcome to 62nd episode of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast..

On this special videotaped episode of David & Stu . . . Unhinged, the following topics are covered:

    1) Mayor Adams has finally announced his long-overdue departure from the New York City Mayor’s race, leaving three dreadful candidates: Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo & Curtis Sliwa. We discuss Adams’ corruption and disappointing performance as Mayor, as well as Mamdani’s latest outrage where he refused to condemn a tribute to Assata Shakur, a former member of the Black Liberation Army who escaped from prison in the US and died in asylum in Cuba. She was convicted of killing a cop. How New Yorkers would want Mamdani as Mayor and responsible for the NYPD is inexplicable.

    2) A discussion of the arc of Chinese immigration to the U.S. and the emergence of China as a global power, and the threat that it poses, as well as the politics and racism experienced by the Chinese.

    3) MAGA apologists continue to argue about how big we are winning under Trump’s economic policies. However, consumer confidence about the economy has dropped to recession levels, and job growth has been meager, almost making Joe Biden look like the wolf of Wall Street. Furthermore, the trade policies championed by Trump are bound to cut into economic growth and fly in the face of sound economic policy.

    4) Christa Gail Pikes was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer and is the only woman sitting on death row in Tennessee. She is scheduled to be executed in 2026, and there is a discussion of the controversial nature of this case and capital punishment.

We hope you tune in, and please leave comments. We welcome all feedback, including any critiques.

  • 61: The Past's Honorable Americans versus Today's Ugly Ones, along with RFK Jr's Latest Autism Lies.
    2025/09/28

Welcome to 61st episode of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast..

During this episode, we cover the following topics:

    1) Stu recounts part of his vacation, where he visited Appomattox Court House, Virginia, where General Lee surrendered in the Civil War to Grant in a magnanimous and dignified manner, which highlights that earlier in history, American leaders were men of character.

    2) In stark contrast, Trump gave a meandering 56-minute speech at the UN where he spewed grievances, insults, and outright fabrications, which highlighted his lack of dignity and pettiness, further establishing how unqualified he is to be representing the United States, let alone as its President.

    3) Another ugly American, Stephen Schwartzman, who runs the Blackstone Group, also made a spectacle of himself in the United Kingdom when he tried to do an end run around restrictions on water usage as part of the renovation on an estate he purchased.

    4) We conclude with the heroin addict, RFK Jr, who cheated on his second wife with 30 plus women, and his false claim that Tylenol causes autism if taken during pregnancy.
