In this devotional we reflect on the idea that peace is not the absence of difficulty, but something we can experience in the middle of it. We begin with John 14:27, where Jesus says he gives peace that is different from what the world offers.
We contrast ordinary ideas of peace with the peace Jesus describes. Rather than depending on calm circumstances, this peace remains present when life is unsettled. We are reminded that it comes from God and is not limited by what is happening around us.
We are encouraged to pause in difficult moments, center ourselves in God’s presence, breathe, pray, and remember that this peace is available right now. The devotional closes with a prayer asking God to calm our thoughts, steady our hearts, and help us trust and rest in his peace.
