We like to be the center of the story. It's the natural tendency of humanity to have everything revolve around us. Even contemporary Christian culture sells church as a way to get you further long in your pursuits. But that's not what the Gospel is about. There is a counter word to this, it's called Servant. We are servants of God. We are to serve God.
