Exodus 15–28: Formation After Freedom: Covenant and Holiness
Deliverance is a dramatic event, while formation is a gradual process. Exodus 1–14 broke the chains of oppression, but Exodus 15–28 begins shaping the identity of the Israelites.
Having crossed the sea, the Israelites still held Egypt in their thoughts. The central question that arose was: What does a redeemed people look like?
Freedom without formation leads to bondage. Therefore, God begins to teach them how to live.
