  • #96 - Stewardship - Andrew Broadbent 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
    2026/07/13

This week on Crossing the Pond, we're joined by Andrew Broadbent, whose journey began in England before taking a leap of faith to the United States in the mid-1990s

What started as a young coach chasing an opportunity abroad evolved into a career of leadership, as Andrew went on to become a Regional Manager with UK Elite Soccer (now Steel Sports) helping guide and support thousands of young coaches as they embarked on journeys remarkably similar to his own.

In this conversation, Andrew reflects on the responsibility that comes with leadership, the lessons learned from managing himself as a young man far from home, and how those experiences shaped the way he mentored the next generation.

Now, decades later, life has come full circle as he watches his own two sons reach the age he was when he first packed his bags and set off into the unknown.

  • #95.5 - The Monday Mood - 7/6 - '23 Years and Counting...'
    2026/07/06

Twenty-three years in America. No cake. No big post. Just a quiet Tuesday and a number that made me stop.

This week's Monday Mood is four things that all landed in the same week and somehow won't stop talking to each other in my head.

*Asking for help and why it took this long to get comfortable with it.*Breaking habits that served you once but maybe don't anymore.*Why being kind without agenda is never wasted.*And something James Stuart said about the best chapters of your life. Enjoy them fully, but don't get stuck there.

Twenty-three years in, Still crossing. Most of us are.

New Monday Mood is live now. Link in bio. 🎙️

  • #95 - Custard - James Stuart 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
    2026/06/29

My guest this week is James Stuart, a guy who literally crossed the pond as a youngster when his parents brought a little piece of England to Florida in the shape of a proper English pub.

From those early roots, James went on to cut his teeth in NYC's restaurant scene before helping open some of Manhattan's most iconic restaurants and hotels.

Now living in Miami with his wife and two children, he's co-founded CUSTARD, his own hospitality consultancy, writing the next exciting chapter of a remarkable career.

We talk hospitality, hustle, leadership, and what it really takes to build something of your own.

  • #93.5 - The Monday Mood - 6/15 - "5 Minutes with Friends"
    2026/06/15

What if the most powerful thing you did this week took just five minutes?

Over the last two weeks, Pat McCarry and Regsan Watkins both said something that stopped me in my tracks. Both of them spoke about receiving messages from people they hadn't heard from in years, people telling them they'd made a difference. And both of them said the same thing: they never would have known.

That's the thing about connection. It doesn't announce itself. It just quietly shapes people, and most of the time, nobody ever says it out loud.

This week on Crossing the Pond, Gary sits down with Blake Landis to talk about Five Minutes with Friends. A simple idea, and a movement we're trying to start. One call. One voice note. Five minutes with someone you've been meaning to reach out to.

Because the effort doesn't have to be massive for the impact to be enormous.

This week on Crossing the Pond, we're joined by Regsan Watkins, whose journey began in Melbourne, Australia, and led him halfway around the world to pursue the dream of playing college soccer in the United States.

Over the past decade, Regsan has built a life and career in America while navigating the highs and lows that come with living thousands of miles from family and friends.

Now, with a decade of experiences behind him and a recent move back to Australia, Regsan reflects on the lessons learned, the opportunities gained, and what it feels like to return home after ten transformative years abroad.

  • #91.5 - The Monday Mood - 5/25 - "The First Stroke on a New Canvas"
    2026/05/25

Sometimes the most powerful place you can stand is in front of a blank canvas with nothing on it yet.

This week on Monday Mood, Gary reflects on one of the most underrated feelings in the world, the clean slate. No history, no baggage, no fixed idea of what you're capable of. Just you, and the question of what the first stroke is going to be.

Whether you've just crossed a pond, changed direction, or simply found yourself starting over this one's for you. Because the blank space in front of you isn't emptiness. It's everything that hasn't been limited yet.
