    The conversation explores the origins of Snazaroo and Lauren’s journey building a globally recognized brand, alongside the personal story that inspired her memoir A Snazzy Tale.
    The Project:
    In the 1980s, my parents founded Snazaroo, the first major face-painting company. Their products have since achieved global distribution and recognition. My mother later sold the company in 2004, and my father passed away in 1997.Around 2018/2019, my mother authored a book titled A Snazzy Tale, which chronicles her journey. Inspired by her story, I have written a stage play based on the book. The production is scheduled to premiere at the New York Theatre Festival this summer, with plans to bring it to England in the future. There are also ongoing discussions to adapt the play for the screen

    Lauren Staton is a British entrepreneur and writer best known for co-founding Snazaroo, the globally recognised face-painting brand she built from the ground up in 1984, authoring six face-painting manuals before selling the company in 2004. She has since turned her storytelling instincts to the written word, capturing the Snazaroo journey in her memoir A Snazzy Tale, and continues to channel her entrepreneurial spirit through Daadi Organics, a social enterprise empowering women in Jaipur through sustainable fashion.

    Joe Staton is a British actor and producer based in New York City, currently making his debut as a playwright with Snazzy a stage adaptation of his mother Lauren Staton's memoir about co-founding Snazaroo, the globally recognised face-painting brand. Presented by RiffRaff NYC, the company he co-founded and co-directs, Snazzy premieres at the New York Theatre Festival this July. A classically trained actor with credits spanning Shakespeare, Chekhov, and new work across New York and regional theatre, Joe trained at Italia Conti in London and the Stella Adler Studio in New York, and is a company member of Ensemble Shakespeare Company. This summer he’ll appear in Ensemble’s production of Julius Caesar. Snazzy marks his most personal project to date.

    Chloe Champken is a British director and actor based in New York City, whose work spans new writing, classical theatre, and the Edinburgh Fringe. A graduate of drama school in London and New York, Chloe co-founded Crowded Space, a British theatre company in New York, and is a company member of Ensemble Shakespeare Company, where she also serves as associate director on this summer's Julius Caesar at The Flea. Her ongoing creative partnership with Joe Staton has taken in productions including Knock Knock and The Rainmaker, and she now takes the helm on Snazzy bringing the remarkable true story of Snazaroo to the New York stage for the first time. In August she heads to Edinburgh to direct Michael Reid's one-man show Safety at the Fringe, making 2026 a landmark year for one of British theatre's most exciting emerging directors.

    Maniac Mike is not the product of a polished industry narrative he is the result of pressure that didn’t break him, but strengthened him. Born and raised in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Mike grew up surrounded by sharp contrasts. On one side were beaches, tourism, and visible wealth; on the other, struggle, survival, and constant tension. His upbringing was defined by instability rather than comfort, shaping a mindset rooted in resilience and self-reliance from an early age. The name “Maniac Mike” was not created for entertainment it was earned through lived experience. Multiple periods of incarceration became pivotal in shaping his perspective. Time spent navigating the realities of the system courtrooms, isolation, lost time, and broken trust left a lasting impact. Unlike many artists, Mike doesn’t draw from observation or assumption; his music is grounded in firsthand experience. It was during incarceration that his connection to music truly began. In an environment stripped of distraction, he turned inward. Writing became more than expression it became a necessary outlet for processing reality and maintaining his mental strength. Upon release, he returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a voice defined by authenticity. Maniac Mike’s music is not driven by trends or mainstream appeal. It is built on lived experience pain, betrayal, survival, and reflection. His sound carries the grit of Florida with a darker, emotionally charged edge, delivered through raw and uncompromising storytelling. His work is not designed for comfort, but for impact challenging listeners to confront the truth within his lyrics. He is not focused on becoming the biggest artist.     LAFAYETTE, La. — A lifetime of hard moments and honest reflection comes to the
    surface in Blue’s debut single, “Summer Nights Goodbye,” arriving March 2026 via
    Starlight Media. The Lafayette, Louisiana, songwriter isn’t interested in dressing things up. His music is rooted in truth—real experiences, real emotions, and the kind of memories that don’t
    fade. “Summer Nights Goodbye” leans into that, capturing the quiet, lingering feeling of
    loss in a way that feels both personal and familiar, shaped in part by his wife's passing.
    Recorded at Beaird Music Group in Nashville, the track was brought to life under the
    direction of ACM Award-nominated producer Eli Beaird, with engineering by Jim

    while still delivering a sound that sits comfortably within today’s country landscape.
    Blue’s writing stands out in its detail. Small, specific moments—things you can see,

    “I just keep going until it sounds like what I hear in my head,” he said. “If it doesn’t feel

    BioIf you live in the United States, there’s a good chance that Matt Axton and his band, Badmoon,
    will be coming to a town near you. That is a very good thing.
    Axton’s group delivers a sound that is equal parts classic rock, country, rock & roll, and soul. In
    other words, as Axton puts it: “Americana with a capital A.” With 200+ shows performed last
    year, and a full slate on deck for 2026, they might be the hardest working band in the genre.
    Now comes the release of Axton’s newest EP, Same Old Story. Recorded in Los Angeles at
    iconic Sunset Sound, it features five songs combining funk, soul, and country and is available
    on streaming platforms and on vinyl.
    “Muscle Chops” is the lead single. An opening funky rhythm guitar intro leads into a
    guitar/bass/drums/organ riff that sounds tighter than a brand new pair of cowboy boots. Axton’s
    baritone voice is a deep growl.
    You got some voodoo on your mojo
    You got something funky up on your soul
    A Hammond-B3 organ solo comes on like Al Kooper after the second chorus, fingers dancing
    and building to a climax, followed by Taylor Kropp’s screaming lead guitar in the middle eight.
    This is a band fully prepared to rock the house.
    That Axton leads a band of killer musicians is not a surprise to anyone who has followed the
    singer-songwriter’s career. His family’s musical pedigree is untouchable. Grandma Mae Boren
    Axton helped discover Elvis Presley and co-wrote the million-selling “Heartbreak Hotel,” moving
    to Nashville where she helped launch the careers of titans like Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks.
    His father, Hoyt Axton, was an entertainment icon penning hits for the Kingston Trio, Three Dog
    Night, Steppenwolf, and Ringo Starr. His mother is also a professional musician, and when
    Hoyt’s band toured the country it was a family affair. Matt says, “Mom had me sitting on the
    piano since I was a baby.”
    Suffice it to say that Matt Axton grew up steeped in music, but that doesn’t mean he takes hard
    work for granted. He says, “I come from a legacy family, but you still have to walk the walk.”
    Walk the walk he does. He started playing the guitar seriously in college following an injury that
    ended a college athletic career. Since then, Axton has written over 350 songs. A few of these
    are likely to appear on an upcoming full-length album, planned for a week-long recording
    session later this year in Tulsa.
    Axton and Badmoon have just completed a West Coast tour, and are soon to hit the road again
    for Oklahoma for a residency at The Colony and a week-long recording session. April kicks off a
    swing up into the Mountain West, including Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Washington, and
    Oregon. In August and September the band goes to Nashville and the Northeast.
    If it sounds like a busy schedule, there’s more: Axton also runs the monthly Americana Joy
    concert series in Los Angeles and the annual Tahoe Joy music festival in his home town of
    Tahoe City. But there’s no rest for the wicked, nor for musicians trying to improve the world by
    spreading mountain soul rock and roll from coast to coast, one listener at a time.
    Axton says, “Making any kind of impact in the world — making it a little better, a little better-
    sounding — that’s the dream.”
