  • Set in stone: Gen X Mt Rushmore
    2025/10/18

After they do a little travelogue of their favorite cities, the boys throw down about who they think should be on the GenX Mt. Rushmore. What four faces should be etched in stone that best represent folks born between 1965 - 80? What entertainers, sports figures, politicians, actors, or others deserve such a lofty honor. Get ready for a wild ride. Things get spooky with some creepy and highly suspect stories from Iowa's darker side, and they hop right into a discussion about their biggest tech fears. The guys had a blast on this episode connecting and giving each other a hard time about their Mt. Rushmore lists. Come along and join the fun!

  • Kwik! Let's Kum & Go!
    2025/10/04

The Connect More boys can hold a job, hold a grudge...and hold onto a bunch of old, outdated stuff from the '80s & '90s that's just gotta go. You'll learn that PIebald Pheasant isn't a British detective show - it's some dusty taxidermy on Ween's shelf.

Then we dig into one of the most controversial topics you can bring up with any Midwesterner: What's the best convenience store? The guys talk about this WAY longer than you'd expect, with topics ranging from gummy peach slices to Italian starchitect Renzo Piano.

For the "You Gonna Finish That?" segment, the boys review what's growing in their gardens and how they're dealing with the zucchinis that magically appear on the doorstep this time of year. What do you do with them? Noodles? Chocolate cake? Bread? We want to hear your ideas, too!

Things wrap up with a quick whiparound to figure out what the fellas will do for a buck and get to the bottom of John's trust issues.

  • What's in a name?
    2025/09/20

Welcome to the "Secret Origins" episode of Connect More where the guys reveal how they got the (for the most part) stupid nicknames that you hear occasionally during the pod. Remember when movie soundtracks were actually the soundtracks of our lives? The boys recall some of their favorites, including a few terrible movies that had great soundtracks ([cough]...Dirty Dancing...[cough]) Like the good Midwesterners that they are, they also talk about the weather with a few stories about how they navigate through the world as meteorological nerds. The closing whip-around is - believe it or not - a review of the boys' favorite TV theme songs. Use the comments to let us know if we missed your favorite theme song.

  • Don't Fear the Chess King
    2025/09/06

The boys get cooking with a spirited debate on the art of grilling, from a caveman-style Tomahawk steak that required a power drill to classic Iowa pork chops and bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. Their group-chat was fire this week, so the fellas recap of some of their favorite jokes and stories, including trashy/classy, Hogan's Heroes, and albino pythons. How's that for an ecelctic mix?? Also known for their keen eye for what's hot and what's not, the guys recall some trends (like mix tapes) that should be brought back...and some that should stay forgotten (like Olestra. Ew.) Bonus content: Chess King-related PTSD from our boy Ween. For the whiparound, you'll get a quick list of the best albums (so far!) from the 21st century. Did they get it right? Probably not.
