  • What The Stigma?
    2025/02/25
    Episode 2: What The Stigma?
Stigma—it’s that annoying, outdated, completely unnecessary weight that first responders have been carrying around like an old, busted radio that no one wants to replace. In this episode, we’re calling it out for what it is: a ridiculous roadblock to getting the help we deserve.
We’ll dive into why so many in public safety still feel like they have to “suck it up” instead of speaking up, how that mindset is harming more than helping, and what we can do to change the culture. Expect some raw truth, a few laughs, and maybe even a wake-up call (without the sirens).
It’s time to break the cycle and start normalizing mental health conversations in first responder communities. No more suffering in silence. No more stigma. Just real talk and real resources to back it up:

Cop Line - a 24/7 manned line for first responders and their families
Boulder Crest Foundation - Resources for all first responders and military
VA Leap - Resources for Peer Support
VA First Responder Wellness - Resources specifically for Virginia’s first responders, because local support matters

So grab your coffee, your duty belt (or your couch blanket), and let’s talk about breaking the stigma—because the only thing we should be carrying is each other, not the weight of silent struggles.
