  • Great Boulder Resources Limited (ASX: GBR) - Discovery of a New Mineralised System - Ironbark
    2022/06/30
Rooster Talk Episode 59 is with Andrew Paterson, Managing Director of Great Boulder Resources Limited (ASX: GBR) This is an update on the Side Well Project which is all about the recent drilling results with the discovery of new mineralisation at Ironbark. Great Boulder Resources appear to have a mineralised province with Side Well as the system that is producing metals in Ironbark is distinctly different to what is happening at Mulga Bill. Andrew narrates us on why this appear to be the case. Ironbark is 1.4km to the east of Mulga Bill. The the drilling results may be showing that there is a series of potential pods of mineralisation which will help the overall picture of potential for Side Well. A intercept of 20m @ 3.05 g/t of gold should not be ignored. In any project, this is clear indication of mineralisation that is not isolated. In my opinion, the discovery of these kind of drill intercepts may be early indication of a level of gold endowment which would excite any company. The excitement stems from the fact that it is within a province that has already shown continuous mineralisation at Mulga Bill. If you are isolated without Mulga Bill, you can be safe to question the potential. However, if you are in a decent system, you would expect numerous deposits nearby. What is interesting with the results coming out from the announcements is that there is clear horizons where the gold is being identified. There is clear indication that it is still early to make a decision of the future potential, but it is looking promising. The presence of copper at Mulga Bill and the lack (currently) of copper at Ironbark is determining the perception of difference at Side Well. It is this that should be noted for audiences. Chapters: 00:00 Start 00:20 Introduction 00:55 Andrew update the Great Boulder Resources Limited 01:24 Is Ironbark similar to Mulga Bill? 02:50 Will the Ironbark mineralisation be a similar system to Mulga Bill? 03:24 Geologically, can multi system exist in a similar area? 05:44 Is multi system a good thing for Side Well? 07:00 Is the copper in Mulga Bill significant? 08:40 Is Great Boulder Resources feeling like Side Well will be a Mine? 10:28 Will Mulga Bill be a series of pits along strike? 11:29 Is the copper good or a bad thing for the project. 13:32 Mineralisation seem to happen in the same horizon. 14:31 Is IP the holy grail for Great Boulder? 16:27 Is geophysics being used more today than 20 years ago? 17:34 News flow for Great Boulder Resources Limited? 19:45 What does Andrew think of the current market sentiment? 22:37 Why this is a good time to look at good companies. 23:24 Andrews last words 23:46 Conclusions

  • The Risk - Reward Myth of Mineral Exploration: Jon Hronsky
    2021/03/22
Coffee with Samso Episode 76 is with Jon Hronsky, of Western Mining Services   Mineral Exploration has always been thought of as the highly speculative and hence is a high risk investment. Jon Hronsky, a geoscientist of the last 37 years shares his thoughts on why this is not true.   I met Jon way back in the late 1989 when I was in my second year of my undergraduate geology studies. I have casually been following his work since then and value his high level (regional) targeting strategies.   One of the hardest things to research are the myriad of projects that exist in companies in ASX. Over the years, I have been asked many times what I think of the projects in this company of that company. What is hard to comment on is the legacy that exist in these projects. If you do not know the history or the content of management, this is extremely hard to give a "correct" answer.   The general consensus is that if there is historical history of mineralisation, this will be a better project. As many experienced proponents of this sector will tell you, this is not anywhere near sufficient information to make a "intellectual" comment. There are way too many other information required before it comes near the point of an "educated" estimation.   Jon Hronsky comes form a breed of mineral exploration that looks at the picture and this is what I call the need for the right ingredients. I am talking about greenfield projects where the "out of the box" thinking have taken the "risk" to chase the potential. These kind of projects normally comes up with the greatest rewards for investors.   In this episode, Jon shares with us his thoughts on mineral exploration and why he thinks the Empress Springs project is a great example of the First Mover Strategy for Moho Resources Limited (ASX; MOH) .   This is the biggest coherent anomaly I have seen. - Jon Hronsky on the Empress Springs project. The risk for investors is realistically less for greenfield exploration as opposed to advanced projects.

  • The Havieron Gold - Copper Discovery - Patterson Range - Western Australia.
    2022/07/01
Coffee with Samso Episode 147 is the second episode of the Exploration Discovery Series which is all about mineral exploration discoveries. This episode of Coffee with Samso is all the Havieron discovery by Greatland Gold Plc. in 2018. It was a major success in where there is now a gold and copper mine nearing production stage. According to the company's website, the project is currently in development under a Joint Venture with Newcrest Mining, Australia's largest gold producer. Havieron is located just 45km from Newcrest's Telfer mine. This allows the project to leverage Telfer's existing infrastructure and processing plant to significantly reduce the project's capital expenditure and carbon impact for a low cost pathway to development under an ore tolling arrangement. Figure 1: Location of the Havieron project (Source: Greatland Gold website) According to the latest presentation from the company, the updated Probable Ore Reserve and Mineral Resource is in Figure 2. The significance of these numbers is in the manner that the deposit was discovered. In many cases, investors are only looking at the results of a long journey of mineral exploration. Figure 2: Probable and Mineral Estimate for the Havieron deposit. (Source: Greatland Gold website) The journey for a discovery is never an overnight process. In reality, discoveries of any mineral deposit is minimum timeframe of years and development is usually in decades (including exploration and resource development). The Coffee with Samso - Exploration Discovery Series is aimed at showcasing the discovery and also the more interesting parts of the exploration journeys. The insides of what happened and what did and could not happen that led to the discovery, for me is the fun part of the conversation. The discovery of Havieron is one of the recent success that has come about because management kept the faith and applied the principals of mineral exploration. As an exploration geologist, the discovery of Havieron is one that excites me. The chase for discovery is one of the most satisfying feeling. The idea of setting up a company to source funding to chase the elephant deposits is high on my bucket list. This is why I want to bring these stories onto the Samso platform so that the average investor out there can have the insights of the journey. I hope you enjoy the video and get some sense of "excitement" that would have been in the room when Callum and his associates received the results from the drilling. Chapters 00:00 Start 01:35 Callum Introduction 03:46 Was undercover discovery always the plan? 06:33 Was it a geophysical target? 08:10 Chasing the elephants. 08:56 Chasing broad wide anomalies. 10:34 What were the challenges like for Greatland Gold at that time? 12:28 The magic formula for exploration success. 13:54 The story behind the discovery. 20:29 Was the discovery luck? 21:41 Was the core of the deposit giving a lot of clues? 23:21 How has technology in Geophysics helped mineral exploration. 27:36 Would the new technology today have changed the modelling? 29:09 Big Elephant deposits still exist. 31:03 Potential of discovery. 32:12 What is Callum Baxter doing now? 33:27 Is Callum heading back into the industry. 33:46 What is happening in the market? 37:26 Are there more Elephants in the Paterson Range? 38:50 Conclusion About Callum Baxter Former Chief Technical Director of Greatland Gold PLC Exploration geologist and founding Director of UK based Greatland Gold plc. Commenced working in the mineral exploration industry after completing geology undergraduate qualifications in 1991 in Western Australia. Participated in discovery of large gold resources (Jundee/Nimary) before moving into other commodities including base metals and nickel. Member of AusIMM and AIG. Worked with juniors, mid-tier explorers and major mining companies globally over more than 25 years. Completed an MSc in Ore Deposit Geology in the early 2000s. Co-founded Greatland which listed on AIM in the UK in 2006. Greatland is focussed on discovery of large precious metal and base metal deposits in Australia, in areas that have not been subject to extensive previous exploration. Greatland has achieved recent success with the discovery of high-grade gold and copper mineralisation at the Havieron deposit, under 400m of cover, in the Paterson Region of Western Australia.
