Everything changed on June 17, 2015, when Chris' world was turned upside down. A racist mass shooting and hate crime at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, claimed the lives of nine people during a Bible study. Tragically, Chris' mother, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, was among those killed.
After taking time to process the unimaginable loss, Chris made the decision to turn his pain into purpose. He discovered a new calling in life: inspiring others through a message of forgiveness, unity, resilience, and hope.
Today, Chris is a nationally renowned motivational speaker and bestselling author who shares his powerful story with organizations, schools, and audiences across the country. He also enjoys life with his high school sweetheart and their three beautiful children.
Chris' journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. During one of the darkest moments imaginable, he chose to become a light for others. Through his work, he continues to honor his mother's legacy of serving others. Sharonda was a speech-language pathologist, coach, and youth pastor who dedicated her life to helping people, and Chris carries that same spirit forward with every speech he gives.
I was fortunate enough to hear Chris' incredible story and learn from his wisdom. It was an inspiring conversation that I know will leave a lasting impact. You can listen to this episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
