  • Ep 5 Christmas ramblings, equality and burnt roast tates!
    2023/12/13

Hey there, in the last episode of our "Chewing the Cud" podcast for 2023, I'm taking a moment to look back on the year. It's not been a roller-coaster but there's been some ups and down! Such as last Saturday, the trailer tyre shredded itself so that put a stop to us going to Selby. Not exactly what you want!

And let's not forget the stress of Christmas shopping. I mean, who knew finding the perfect present for everyone on your list could be so overwhelming? How do you deal with it?

Looking ahead to the new year, I'm excited about the plans for the Women's Ag Group. I want to introduce you all to the organisation and explain what we're here for through the world blog posts and podcasts. There are so many talented women in our community, and I can't wait for everyone to get to know them better.

On a more serious note, there's been a lot about gender inequality lately. Farmers Weekly ( I say it's the Farmers Guardian so apologies for that mistake!) have been running a series called "Level the field" but I'm questioning the effectiveness of this sort of targeted promotion. Would it be better to highlight the qualities women bring? I've experienced sexism in the industry myself but we can't change the way a person thinks or behaves, only what we do.

One of the reasons I invite you to join our Women's Ag Group community. Together, we can support and uplift each other, and maybe even change the world a little bit. And hey, let's not forget to take care of ourselves too. I wish you all a stress-free holiday season filled with love and joy.

Before I sign off, I want to say a big thank you to all of you, amazing listeners. Your support means a lot. Don't forget to follow the Women's Ag Group on social media to stay updated on all the exciting things happening in the new year.

Take care, and until next time!

  • Episode 4 - Twitching and weak bladder!
    2023/11/10
Hey there! In this awesome podcast episode, it's me, Rachael, coming to you all the way from a field in Lincolnshire. Can you believe it? I'm surrounded by beautiful weather, chirping birds, and the wonderful world of farming. Well I was when I recorded it! Now, let's get real for a moment. We all know global warming is a big deal, right? Well, I'm here to share my thoughts on how it's impacting us farmers and the countryside. But don't worry, it's not all serious stuff. I'll also be sharing some personal stories, like the time I took my son to a trampoline park. Let me tell you, I had a blast bouncing around like a kid again! But it's not all fun and games. I'll also be talking about cherishing those little moments in life that appear unexpectedly. Now, let's talk about the Women's Ag Group. We've been facing some challenges in getting our in-person groups up and running, but that's not stopping us. We're putting a lot of energy into building an awesome online community for women in agriculture too. It's a place where we can connect, share stories, and support each other. So, if you're a woman in agriculture or just love the countryside, I encourage you to join our online community. Let's come together and make a difference. See you there!

In this episode of the Chewing the Cud podcast, Rachael discusses various topics. The aches and pains induced by her recent trip away with her mum, the challenging weather for farming, and her enjoyment of the school holidays!! Yes really. Rachael mentions an organisation called Whole Health Ag and asks listeners about their experiences with mastitis and holistic treatments. She shares her own use of natural products for livestock. She also touches on the recent serious incident involving sheep fly spray that was posted on social media and warns about the dangers of these potent products. Rachael also announces upcoming events and introduces the idea of "women's group away days". She concludes by mentioning branded merchandise and encourages listeners to stay updated.
