  • Boundaries - Establishing and Maintaining
    2023/11/28

In this episode, we talk with fellow Baby Boomer, Marla Thomas, about the need to establish boundaries with adult children. Marla is married to Grammy Award winner and member of the soulful band Take Six, Dave Thomas. She is a respected celebrity realtor and a vocal mental health advocate. She is a mother of 3 children, including former Love & Hip Hop Hollywood Star, Moniece Slaughter. Because of their family's personal struggle with mental illness, Marla and her husband, Dave, founded the organization, Loving Beyond Reason. This was a tough conversation that at times made Amanda and I wince, but Marla explained that while a boundary is a separation or divider, it does not have to include resentment, anger or being caustic.

You can find Marla at and learn more about her organization at:

  • Do I Really Need that Purse?
    2023/11/14

Shopping is one of America’s favorite pastimes. Consumerism is at an all-time. Most of us already have much more than we need. I think we all might be guilty of what many women call “retail therapy.” Shopping can also be an addiction or an indication of other deep-seated trauma or problems. Join us for an insightful discussion with social media influencer, Monique Melton. Monique is an educator, published author, content creator, international speaker and host of the Shine Brighter Together podcast. She is also the founder of Shine Bright School which is a global community of people dedicated to doing the work from the inside out for our liberation. We are joined by a familiar voice, Tenisha Tate-Austin, our now Gen-X Guest in Residence. Decluttering and Organizing your home effectively can be a real benefit. It can relieve stress and anxiety, increase productivity and concentration, and have a positive impact on your overall health.
