    2025/10/26

Welcome to Calvary Chapel of Perry! Today, Pastor Harley Doneburg continues our verse-by-verse study through the Book of Acts, teaching from Acts 13:6-12 — the beginning of the missionary church at Antioch.

In this message, we look at how the early church sought the Lord through prayer, fasting, and ministering to God, and how the Holy Spirit set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work He had called them to. Pastor Harley also walks us through the importance of:

    • Hearing and responding to God’s call
    • The role of encouragement and spiritual confirmation
    • How God leads naturally and supernaturally
    • Preaching the Word of God as the primary ministry of the church
    • The spiritual battle that arises when the gospel transforms lives
    • Judging rightly with humility and discernment
    • The example of John Mark, and how God restores and grows those who once struggled

  • Week 31 - The Book of Acts | Pastor Harley Doneburg | October 19th, 2025
    2025/10/19

In Acts 13, we witness a pivotal turning point in church history — the moment when the gospel begins to move beyond the borders of Israel and into the Gentile world. The church in Antioch becomes a sending church, a community deeply rooted in worship, fasting, and prayer. It’s here that the Holy Spirit speaks, setting apart Paul and Barnabas for the first missionary journey — a moment that would forever shape the direction of the early church.

In this message, Pastor Harley Doneburg unpacks the heart and power of this passage, showing us that God still calls His people today to live with the same sensitivity, faith, and obedience to the Holy Spirit. The mission of the church didn’t end in Acts — it continues through us. When God’s people are filled with His Spirit, they are sent with His power, and their lives bear fruit for His kingdom.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Scripture: Acts 13 Supporting Passages: Matthew 28:18–20, Romans 10:14–15, Acts 1:8

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Themes: The calling and sending of Paul and Barnabas, the leading of the Holy Spirit, the faithfulness of the Church in Antioch, and the unstoppable power of God’s Word.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Takeaway: The same Spirit that moved in the early church is still at work today. God is still calling, still sending, and still using His people to reach the world with the gospel.

  • Week 30 - The Book of Acts | Pastor Harley Doneburg | October 12th, 2025
    2025/10/12

In this week’s message from Calvary Chapel Perry, Pastor Harley Doneburg continues our journey through the Book of Acts, picking up in chapter 12 where persecution intensifies under King Herod. As James is martyred and Peter is miraculously freed from prison, we’re faced with a powerful question: Why does God allow suffering for some, while delivering others?

Through this passage, Pastor Harley reminds us of God’s sovereignty, the mystery of His will, and the power of prayer—even when we don’t understand the outcome. He takes us through key moments in Acts, John, and Philippians to show how God uses both trials and triumphs to grow our faith, deepen our trust, and draw us closer to Him.

If you’ve ever wrestled with questions like “Why me?” or “Where is God in this?”, this message will encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises, trust His timing, and remember that His ways are higher than ours.

  • Topical Teaching | Judges 7 - Obedience Over Numbers | Pastor Justin Perry | October 5th, 2025
    2025/10/05

Join us at Calvary Chapel of Perry for this Sunday’s inspiring message with Pastor Justin Perry. In Judges 7, we study the story of Gideon and his 300 men, a powerful example of how God’s power works through weakness and obedience. Despite being outnumbered, Gideon’s small army experienced a miraculous victory because they trusted God, followed His instructions, and acted in faith.

This message teaches us that God doesn’t depend on our strength, numbers, or ability — He wants our hearts fully surrendered to Him. Like Gideon, we can experience victory in life when we obey God’s Word, step out in faith, and trust His plan. Whether you’re facing fear, doubt, or challenges, this sermon will encourage you to rely on God’s power, not your own, and to walk confidently in His calling.

  • Week 29 - The Book of Acts | Pastor Harley Doneburg | September 28th, 2025
    2025/09/28

In this teaching from Acts 11, we see how God used persecution to spread the gospel beyond Jerusalem and into the Gentile world. The scattering after Stephen’s stoning led believers to Antioch, a pagan and sinful city, where the gospel took root and a thriving church was born. This is where believers were first called Christians.

Through the ministry of ordinary men, along with Barnabas and Saul, God shows us that He desires to use ordinary lives for His extraordinary purposes. Persecution, trials, and challenges cannot stop the work of God; in fact, they often become the very means through which the gospel advances. We are reminded that God wants to use us, regardless of our past or shortcomings, and that we must purpose in our hearts to continue with the Lord.

The main scripture reading for this message is Acts 11:19–30, with supporting references from Acts 6–7, Matthew 5:10–12, and 2 Timothy 3:10–17. The focus of the teaching includes the spread of the gospel through persecution, God’s use of ordinary people to build His church, the birth of the church in Antioch, the first use of the name “Christian,” the encouragement of Barnabas, the reality of persecution, and the call to remain steadfast with the Lord.

The key takeaway is that God uses what the enemy means for harm to accomplish His purposes. He is looking for people who are full of the Spirit and faith, who will continue with Him no matter the trials.

  • Week 28 - The Book of Acts | Pastor Harley Doneburg | September 21st, 2025
    2025/09/21

Join us at Calvary Chapel Perry as Pastor Harley Doneburg teaches from Acts 11 on the powerful truth that God’s love extends beyond Israel to all people. In this message, Peter defends God’s work among the Gentiles and shows that the gospel is for whosoever believes.

The early church struggled with centuries of tradition, but God revealed His heart—that no one is excluded from His invitation. The same is true today. The church is not a place of judgment but a hospital for the broken, where God offers healing, forgiveness, and eternal life through Jesus Christ.

If you feel weighed down, thirsty, or searching for something more, hear Jesus’ invitation: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

    2025/09/14

**Excerpt from week 27 of our Book of Acts Series**

Violence, lawlessness, and tragedy seem to fill our world today — from shocking events online to the pain of remembering 9/11. In Acts 7, we see Stephen, the first Christian martyr, stoned to death for boldly proclaiming the gospel. His response of forgiveness echoes the love of Christ and challenges us to stand firm in a world growing increasingly hostile to truth.

  • Week 27 - The Book of Acts - "From Stephen’s Martyrdom to Modern Violence" | Pastor Harley Doneburg | September 14th, 2025
    2025/09/14

Violence, lawlessness, and tragedy seem to fill our world today — from shocking events online to the pain of remembering 9/11. In Acts 7, we see Stephen, the first Christian martyr, stoned to death for boldly proclaiming the gospel. His response of forgiveness echoes the love of Christ and challenges us to stand firm in a world growing increasingly hostile to truth.

In Acts 11, we learn that persecution scattered the church, but instead of silencing the gospel, it caused it to spread to new cities like Antioch, where believers were first called Christians. What the enemy meant for evil, God used for good — just as He still does today.

This message reminds us that though our culture often celebrates death and grows cold in love, the hope of Jesus Christ remains unshaken. The gospel is unstoppable. The question is: are we living boldly for Him in these times?
