    2025/10/29

Elizabeth shares the riveting story of Americas first nuclear accident. Located near the small town of Idaho Falls, Idaho the National Reactor Testing Station was the newest development in energy at the time. The men working at the various reactors were pioneering the field. Unfortunately, the powerful neutrons within the reactor proved to be more impactful than the men wielding it.

On January 3, 1961 the SL-1 reactor explodes leaving its three crew men dead inside. Rescue workers are posed with the life threatening task to retrieve their bodies. Facing levels of radiation double to triple what their meters were initially reading.
