You spent months in braces. Maybe years. Your jaw still hurts. Clicking, headaches, pain radiating into your ear or temple.
Someone told you fixing your bite would take pressure off your jaw joint. It didn't. That treatment was never going to fix what was actually driving the pain.
In this episode, I'm going to show you why bite correction doesn't resolve jaw pain, how to tell whether your problem is inside the joint or in the surrounding muscles, and what the real treatment sequence looks like.

❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED:
Q: Can braces fix TMJ pain?
A: No. Bite correction addresses tooth alignment, not the disc inside the joint or the muscles surrounding it. Straightening teeth has real benefits, but eliminating jaw pain is not one of them.
Q: What are the two types of TMJ problems?
A: One is a disc problem inside the joint itself. The other is a muscle and nerve problem in the tissues surrounding the joint. They produce similar symptoms but require completely different treatment.
Q: How do I know if my jaw pain is a joint problem or a muscle problem?
A: Press firmly on the muscles just in front of your earlobe and along your jawline. Tender spots that recreate your familiar pain point to a muscle problem. Pain localized at the joint when it clicks, or true jaw locking, points to an internal joint problem.
